Doctor Who, fan fiction fragment

Not a real story, more like a loose collection of fragments which came to my mind while walking the spaniel.

ECHOES

-  But do you think they are bad for us?
-  Whom do you mean? The Kell or the Box people?
-  The Box people of course. Everyone knows the Kell keep us happy.

(conversation between mother and son, held in a roof top)

 ***

The planet of Uma is very unique insofar that only its equatorial zones are inhabited by higher life forms. The people there abhor seasonal changes. There has been a long ethno-scientific debate whether they are fully sentient.

(excerpt from a school essay, Alevka Pertokyn, 10 cycles-old, Gelarre elementary school, Emrough, South Trion)

 ***

Happiness: State of physical and emotional satisfaction. Stable, eternal, always the same.

(definition taken from Encyclopedia Kelleria)

 ***

Woe us, who lay in the path of the long-coated Box man, for once upon a time all green was tranquil.

 (Dawen Strangletree, storyteller)

***

- This is weird, this is really, really weird. Almost as if their language had no proper  word for "Doctor". Could you please say my name, Rose? I just want to make sure the translator is working.

(The traveller to his companion, shortly before he brought on the great, terrible change)

I'm not sure whether the text makes any sense. Comments are welcome :-)

While re-reading this: the "Fragments", and even more so the sources are really inspired.(if not to say downright scary ;-):

Well, as I already said, the whole thing really is a result of watching so many Attenborough documentaries in a row. Glad that you think the sources are fitting :-)

My personal favourite is the school essay written by this little girl on Trion.

Somehow I knew you would say this ;-)

Make sense & intrigue
I would like to read the story behind those... ;-)

Oh, thank you! Good to hear this little arrangement of puzzle pieces makes sense not only in my head, but in someone else's as well :-)

Strangely enough, I'm having serious doubts on whether the whole thing would ever work as a proper short story. For me the actual fun part clearly lies in filling in the blanks left by the text with my own speculations, and I reckon that readers might eventually feel the same.

It's a bit like those horror movie monsters which only scare you for as long as you can't really see them but have to make them up in your own mind.
