Dream of a Thousand Coffee Mugs ;-)

As the neighbourhood is quite nice...

... some of my mugs prefer sticking to their natural habitat...

... while others might enjoy the occasional day out...

Woof :-)

Disclaimer: No mug or animal was harmed during the making of this presentation.

*G* Do you actually collect them or do you just end up with lots? I seem to buy mugs, but I'm not sure I consider myself a collector.

I like the one on the shelves! And I love your bureau!

I'm afraid I really collect them these days, partly as holiday souvenirs, partly as objects of amusement or beauty ;-)

My latest coup, for example, was bringing home the white and yellow tea set standing on the bureau from Forres, Scotland in about three layers of bubble wrap and a rather cheap plastic salad bowl from Tesco's which had been especially purchased for that very purpose.

As for the bureau: It's part of the cherrywood furniture I inherited from my mum, and I'm never quite sure what to think about it, because it looks so very beautiful, stylish and elegant (Commodore Norrington would probably approve of it, though ;-)). If I had an additional room to furnish all on my own, I'd probably opt for something Scandinavian or Bauhaus, because my own taste somehow got stuck in the 1920s-1930s.

Heh, my sister used to live in Forres, so I know it well. (Or at least, I knew it well about 10 years ago :) )

I sympathize with the problem of furniture, though for me it's the other way around - I like dark, old stuff, but we've never had the money to afford it, so our house is mainly furnished in pine from IKEA :)

We've got that Simpsons mug and another one in the same series. We don't intend to collect mugs, we just accidentally acquire them!

And I meant to say many thanks for your postcard and I'm really looking forward to hearing more about the Scottish trip (hint, hint *g*).

I'm really looking forward to hearing more about the Scottish trip (hint, hint *g*).

As cavendish and I had the best of times, writing a proper holiday report will be pleasure. Expect tales of coastal walks, whisky destilleries, mountains and salmons *g*

Hey, these are great :-)

I perfectly love the "day out" picture :-)

That's the first time ever I've received a mug-o-gram! Thanks so much! :-D

This is great fun, and the mugs are awesome! "Ruhrpott" is very clever, and I love the Simpsons- and the Henry VIII one! :-D

Thanks so much for taking the pictures; your furniture is beautiful, and so's your dog. The frog's not bad, either (I hope!) - "Philosophie des Mittelalters" is the perfect place for him to rest in front. Thanks!

So I take it you're back from your holidays, I'm looking forward to your report and hope you had a wonderful time! :D

Re: Yayness!
Believe it or not, Henry VIII was actually bought at the Royal Dockyards in Portsmouth (in the Mary Rose section of their souvenir shop to be precise) and probably the one fateful mug which triggered my obsession. So I'm extra glad that you like it! It really is one of my all time favourites as well :-)

As for the Spaniel: He is freshly groomed and usually far fluffier than this. You should see Wesley in his natural state. One happy, friendly ball of orange-freckled fur. Unfortunately I can't post any pictures to illustrate what I mean, because I'm sitting at cavendish's computer right now.

hope you had a wonderful time!

Absolutely! Report and pictures will follow as soon as I manage :-) (This weekend will get somewhat busy, I fear. My pseudo-goddaughter's birthday's on Sunday, and I have yet to figure out how to use the soap bubble kit I was asked to demonstrate to the kiddies)

Danke! Danke! Danke!
